Unforgettable Day with French Navy
Last Friday, Peduli Anak had the honor of welcoming four members of the French National Navy for a special day filled with cultural exchange, learning, and unforgettable moments. Their visit gave our children a rare opportunity to connect with international guests, learn about marine defense, and share Lombok’s rich cultural heritage.
A Warm Welcome
To welcome our esteemed guests, our children, together with students from a neighboring primary school, prepared a Gendang Beleq performance. The lively beats of this traditional Lombok music created an electrifying atmosphere, showcasing the beauty and energy of our culture. The French Navy members looked amazed as the children confidently played the traditional drums, a moment that bridged cultures through music.
The excitement continued with an impressive Taekwondo demonstration by our children. This performance was not just about displaying their physical abilities but also highlighting their discipline, perseverance, and dedication to the sport. Each kick and move was executed with precision, earning applause and admiration from our visitors. The navy members were particularly interested in how Taekwondo helps the children build confidence and strength.
Knowledge-Sharing Session
One of the most valuable parts of the visit was the knowledge-sharing session, where the navy officers introduced the children to the world of marine defense. They shared fascinating insights about life at sea, the role of the navy in protecting marine ecosystems, and the importance of teamwork and leadership. The children listened with fascination, some even imagining themselves as future naval officers.
Despite the language barrier, the interaction between the navy members and the children was filled with smiles and laughter. They found creative ways to communicate, using gestures and simple words, making the session not only educational but also heartwarming. The officers showed pictures of their ships, marine equipment, and shared personal stories about their missions at sea, leaving a lasting impression on the children.
A Child’s Perspective
One of our children, Noval, shared his thoughts about the visit:
“I was so excited to meet them! I had never met a navy officer before, and they were so friendly. They told us about their job in the sea, how they protect nature, and how strong they have to be. It makes me want to learn more about the ocean and maybe even be like them one day!”
