Mental Health

Mental health challenges often begin in early childhood and are highly complex. Without supportive relationships and a secure environment, children may lack the foundation needed for growth. Exposure to violence, abuse, and neglect can severely impact a child’s development and long-term well-being. Research from organizations like UNICEF and Save the Children highlights the crucial role of mental health in a child’s future.

When families face hardships, the mental health of both children and caregivers suffers. Issues like abuse, neglect, exploitation, child marriage, and orphanhood further complicate these challenges. Providing support during such times is essential to keep families united and thriving. Strengthening family resilience and prioritizing mental health is vital for their overall well-being and community stability.

Peduli Anak employs skilled psychologists, autism specialists, and counselors to work with vulnerable children and young adults. We support children with mental and behavioral challenges in partnership with various mental health organizations and hospitals. Our child welfare centers foster secure, supportive relationships to help children overcome adversity and build resilience. We equip care professionals with tools to address trauma through group sharing sessions, art and drama therapy, play therapy, and sports programs.

Mental health is a critical component of overall health, and children’s right to health is guaranteed by international law. We advocate for better protection of children’s mental health, especially for those alone or in struggling families. During humanitarian crises, when trauma and lack of access to services are common, we prioritize mental health support. To continue our vital work, we rely solely on donations. Please consider sponsoring a child or donating to help us provide the care and opportunities these children need. Your support can make a significant difference in their lives.
