Fun & Educational Trip to Autore
Last Sunday, 27 children from Peduli Anak embarked on an unforgettable journey, invited by Autore, a renowned business specializing in pearl farming and jewelry design. The day was packed with fun, engaging, and educational activities, offering the children valuable lessons about sustainability, marine life, and the art of pearl cultivation.
A Warm Welcome and a Meaningful Start
The Autore team greeted the children with warm smiles, setting the tone for a memorable experience. Mr. Ceko, the Operational Manager at Autore, opened the day with a heartfelt message, sharing insights into the activities the children would participate in. “Today is about learning and giving back to nature. We hope you enjoy and take home valuable lessons from this experience,” he said.
The day began with a beach clean-up, involving not only the children and Autore staff but also the dedicated team from Geo Trash Management (GTM), a company transforming plastic waste into fuel. Armed with excitement and determination, the children eagerly combed the beach for plastic waste. By the end of the activity, a significant amount of plastic waste was collected, leaving the beach cleaner and the children with a sense of accomplishment.
Diving into Coral Cultivation
Following the beach clean-up, the children delved into the fascinating world of coral cultivation. Guided by experts, they learned how corals contribute to marine ecosystems and practiced preparing coral tables for planting. Their curiosity blossomed as they asked questions like, “How do corals eat?” and “What makes them so important to the sea?” After assembling the coral tables, the children brought them closer to the water, where Autore staff helped them place the corals under the sea. This hands-on experience left a lasting impression on the children, deepening their appreciation for marine life.
Discovering the Art of Pearl Farming
The adventure continued with a tour of Autore’s facilities, where Ms. Diah, a staff member, guided the children through each step of the pearl farming process. Starting in the laboratory, the children were introduced to the baby oysters, learning how they are nurtured and fed with cultivated plankton. Ms. Diah explained how baby oysters grow and when they are ready to produce pearls.
The tour progressed to the preparation area, where the children observed how oysters are cared for during the pearl-forming process. They watched in awe as the pearls were carefully extracted from the oysters, transforming into stunning pieces of jewelry. The children’s curiosity sparked countless questions, making the session both interactive and enriching.
Finally, the children visited the showroom, where they marveled at the pearls showcased as exquisite jewelry. Aura, one of the children, shared her excitement: “This trip was amazing and so educational. I didn’t know making a pearl took such a long process and so much work. It makes me appreciate pearls even more!”
