Akmal Attarayhan, or Rayhan, is the fourth of five siblings whose lives changed dramatically when their mother, once a migrant worker in Malaysia, became disabled due to lupus. Their father had to stop working to care for her, leading the family into financial difficulties. As their father’s attention was focused on their mother’s recovery, the children experienced neglect. With the help of a compassionate doctor, the family was transferred to a hospital and later deported to Indonesia, where they were reunited with their mother’s relatives in Lombok. Unfortunately, their mother passed away not long after their arrival in Indonesia. Due to their father’s absence and the limited resources of their relatives, the siblings were placed in the care of Peduli Anak, where they now receive the support and education they need.
