Children are one of the key factors for the advancement of a nation in the future. Ironically, however, many Indonesian children still live on the streets as abandoned children. According to data from the Ministry of Social Affairs, taken from the Integrated Social Welfare Data Dashboard (DTKS) SIKS-NG as of December 15, 2020, the number of abandoned children in Indonesia is 67,368.
We cannot allow children to continue living on the streets. Besides needing protection, they also need proper care. Even today, many less fortunate children are around us. Many of them live with incomplete families, and some even without parents at all. They are abandoned and do not have access to a decent life.
Afan (12) is one of the abandoned children currently living at Peduli Anak Foundation. His parents divorced and lived below the poverty line. Due to extreme poverty, Afan and his mother survived by scavenging for snails in the river, without ever eating rice.
Chaim Fetter (from the Netherlands) was moved to help abandoned children like Afan and established the Peduli Anak Foundation by selling all his assets to help orphaned and abandoned children. However, Chaim cannot do it alone. Your support will mean a lot in helping these children.
