At Risk of Dropping Out of School, Save Jaelani’s Future, a Scavenger’s Child!

Jaelani (13) is now in seventh grade. He has a big dream of becoming a police officer. However, in the midst of his family’s hardships, that dream seems to be slipping further out of reach. Living with his father, a scavenger, and his older sister who had to drop out of school, Jaelani stays in an uninhabitable house. Now, his father is often sick and unable to work as a scavenger. The family’s survival depends solely on his father’s income.

Since he was little, Jaelani’s mother left without a trace, and his father has been the sole caregiver, struggling to provide for his children. But with life becoming more difficult, it is getting harder for Jaelani to continue his education. Even though he has to go to school wearing torn uniforms and worn-out shoes, Jaelani never loses his passion for learning. He just wants to study, even though he knows his time in school may be cut short.

Seeing Jaelani’s difficult situation, the Peduli Anak Foundation is moved to help ensure that he can continue his education without worrying about costs. We believe that Jaelani, like all other children, deserves the right to an education and the opportunity to pursue his dreams. But we cannot do this alone.

Every day is a struggle for Jaelani and his family just to survive. Without help, Jaelani may have to drop out of school, forced to bury his dreams beneath the hardships he continues to face. However, with your support, we can give Jaelani the chance for a brighter future.
