Story From The Founder
In 2006, an encounter with a street child during a trip through rural Indonesia deeply moved me and inspired the creation of the Peduli Anak Foundation alongside my wife and a close friend. On Lombok Island, we established a 2.2-hectare child welfare center that now includes homes, schools, and a medical clinic. Currently, our foundation employs nearly 80 dedicated staff members, providing essential services to hundreds of underprivileged children, including free schooling for community children.
Peduli Anak has grown into a transparent and well-managed nonprofit known for its high standards and world-class care. We operate 14 children’s homes, two schools, a clinic, a sports center, and facilities for psychological and legal support. To date, we’ve positively impacted over 30,000 children’s lives.
Our efforts to refine our Lombok center continue as we are currently expanding with a new center in Sumbawa Island to extend our rech to help more children in dire need. This work was recognized in 2021 when I received the Kick Andy Hero Award on MetroTV.

Our History
2006
After founding Peduli Anak, we surveyed over 400 street children, identifying many in critical condition. To support them, we launched an emergency shelter, renting a house and hiring staff to provide care while starting to build our child welfare center for up to 300 children.
2008
We constructed the first two children’s homes, with counselors and social worker, on our newly acquired land, along with a clinic, extra curriculum classrooms, and sports facilities. An initial group of 60 children from challenging backgrounds moved into these homes.
2010
We officially opened our own Elementary school for the children that live within our center but also free for the children from the neighboring villages from low-income families and provided them with a healthy lunch.
2012
We opened our third children’s home for teenagers from abusive backgrounds and established a vocational school where the children can learn automotive skills, carpentry, and tailoring.
2014
This year, we housed over 80 children in our homes, and 120 attended our elementary school, while we expanded educational programs and partnerships. We celebrated as the first generation of our children started higher education at several universities.
2016
This year, our center neared capacity with new children from disruptive backgrounds referred by social services. To support their recovery, we hired additional psychologists and expanded sports and play activities. Our work also gained national exposure on the Kick Andy Show.
2018
Our center was devastated by a series of powerful earthquakes, including two that reached magnitudes of 6.5 and 7. For a year, all children slept outdoors as we repaired temporary shelters and rebuilt the entire facility. Crucial financial support from international donors and local companies greatly aided our recovery efforts.
2020
The reconstruction of our center is nearly complete, featuring 14 family-based homes for 10 children each, a new school, sports center, clinic, and playground. The children are now moving from temporary shelters into their new homes.
2022
Our rebuilt child welfare center in Lombok now includes homes with dedicated foster mothers and child-friendly areas with fruit trees and playgrounds. We’ve renovated orphanages in Sumbawa, provided lifesaving heart surgeries for children, and launched a 7000m² organic garden. Additionally, we built homes for homeless families and their children.
2024
The child welfare center in Lombok is fully operational and at capacity, prompting the construction of a second center in Sumbawa City to aid more children.
